For all of the same reasons and benefits we seek out Reiki for ourselves, we hopefully seek out for the animals in and around our lives. The same goals of promoting relaxation and stress relief to promote self-healing of the mind, body, and spirit are the same, just presented differently.
While human to human Reiki usually involves a quiet touch therapy with the practitioner in control, human to animal Reiki is usually the exact opposite and involves a gentle energetic mediation that only uses touch
if initiated by the animal. It is extremely important for the animal to feel safe with
the practitioner and control the connection.
A Touch of Reiki uses “Kathleen Prasad’s Let Animals Lead® method [which]offers the world’s most ethical, powerful and safe approach to offering Animal Reiki to animals. This method is hands-off,
meditation based and animal-led.”
Animals respond so well because they seem to be more sensitive to energy and our emotions and do not need a physical connection, though some will often present an injured or painful body area during a session. The resulting peace and comfort of sharing Reiki brings relief from pain, emotional distress and anxiety as well as ease the process of transitioning for both the animal and their owners.
